So, I tried to blog from my phone yesterday. Not a good idea.

I’m sure it *could* be done, but I’m also pretty sure I’m not going to be doing it anytime soon.

I’m sure you’re wondering why I’d feel compelled to do that. After all, I do have a netbook and my husband has a laptop… But, I was on the road. And the mobile hotspot that I was trying out worked on the road, but not while driving down the road, make sense?

The next question that should pop in your mind is, why on earth would you be on the road with that litter of children that you have…?

And the answer is, we were not! We left them at home 🙂

Brian and I are very spoiled  fortunate to have a wonderful sitter who was able to stay with the kids so we could have a little adventure. We went to L.A…. left on Saturday and came back on Sunday.

Why the journey for such a short stay?

The answer is the Fab Faux. If you’re a Beatles fan of any sort, you should check them out.

And, if you’re too lazy to do so otherwise, I’ll include a clip so you can just click your mouse a couple times and experience them…

This isn’t the best video, but it is my favorite song that they sing.

Hope you enjoy! And we’re already planning next year’s trip. Who wants to join us next October 22nd?

So, V & Bean are playing t-ball. Kind of. V is actually pretty good. He hits pretty well, he can run fast and he actually can throw and catch (these make him the second best on the team). Bean, on the other hand, is struggling. She looks adorable with her pony tail coming through her hat and her hot pink glove on her hand. But, she’s been having some issues with crying. I keep telling her, “There’s no crying in baseball.” (Thanks, Tom Hanks) But, it doesn’t seem to work.

She gets frustrated when the ball is hit to the 1st base side and she’s on 3rd. She gets frustrated when she can’t get each ball that’s close to her. She gets hot (it’s still over 100 here daily) and whiny and just melts. I should say, however, that even with her mid-field tantrums, she’s easily the best girl on her team (yes, there’s more than one) and is actually still one of the better players on the team.

Brian and I have been trying to prevent these meltdowns. He offered candy, I upped the ante and offered McDonald’s this week (!). But, it wasn’t working (when has McDonald’s not worked as a bribe?!?). In the middle of yesterday’s game, David came on the field, where I was holding a sobbing Bean’s hand and trying to get her to chill out. He found gum in my purse. Low and behold, I read the label and discovered that this was no ordinary gum… It was *magic* gum! Gum that stopped crying and helped you get to the baseball.

Not a tear was shed after the gum entered into the picture.

Yes, I *am* a genius, but you already knew that…

**********

So, that was in the morning, in the evening, I crafted more and more!

Brian is working on my website, soon you’ll be able to shop!

I now have several purses in process with my friend Renee. And I’ve made about 15 different onesies. I finished a third dress last night and today will sew up another taggie.

It’s exciting and a little scary!

Any words of wisdom?

Since I’m dying to show off my creations (and because Jessie told me to), I am posting a photo of one of the dresses I made yesterday.

My friend Renee and I have decided that we’re going to finally take the plunge and try to sell some of the things that we’ve been crafting. And I hope to have a couple of these little dresses ready to go. I think this one would look very cute with black leggings!

Yesterday, I was overwhelmed. Well, I don’t know if that’s the right word Maybe more frustrated?

The kids were full of energy and everywhere I looked there was a mess (still is!). Then I tried to go to the bathroom. I ended up falling in (curse you seat-lifiting boys!) and then there wasn’t any t.p. and when I went to wash my hands, I had to first clear off the sink to even get to it.

I will fully admit that I am high-strung… but it just got to me yesterday.

Anyhow, after a great evening supporting the National MS Society (click for more info) at Corks and Chords (wine, food, music, and shopping! I love this event!). I came home and went to my craft room. And I crafted. I created. And the stuff I made is *cute*!

I am running on very little sleep, but still full of energy…

I tried to get photos of one of the dresses I made, but Ms.Bean is not being cooperative this morning.

And now the weekend is here!

I used to relish my “weekends”. Back before kidlets, I never had the actual weekends off. I did, however, have two days off. And most of the time they were back to back. Those of you in “normal” careers won’t understand, but it makes a *huge* difference. I would always spend one of my days off cleaning & running errands. And I’d always spend the other doing absolutely nothing. I think there were more than a few of those days that I didn’t even get out of p.j.’s all day.

But, mommy-hood and being a “Home Executive” have changed that. I still look forward to the weekends. I love having more time with Brian. And I get to do more fun stuff with the kids. But, there’s not much relaxing in our weekends. Tomorrow, there’s t-ball and a birthday party..  followed by some crafting time with a friend and an event to support MS research. All of these are fun things that I want to to and enjoy doing, but they don’t recharge me.

What recharges you?

What is your idea of a good weekend?

Right now, Sunday is utterly unbooked. And I think that’s a good thing. I’m going to try to just relax and cuddle a little on Sunday 🙂

Just wanted to share a craft project I did a few weeks ago.

I am pretty gosh-darn proud of myself.

I swear, I didn't drink it all alone!

So, Saturday Bean & V had their first t-ball game. I didn’t get to go watch, but I did get a photo of Bean before they left… even in sports, she’s a princess…

And here are just a couple pre-party photos…

I think that being a parent is vastly different than it was a generation ago.

Some of the changes make things easier. I can entertain my children with movies at their fingertips on long drives, I can play their favorite songs on demand. I have limitless options as far as classes and food and schools.

But, there are other changes that make it more difficult. I don’t know my neighbors very well, and my family is spread out (yes, those are choices, but I find that they’re pretty common, too).

And the huge number of choices alone is a hindrance. How do  I know what I’m doing right? How do I know what mistakes are really going to affect my kids?

So, we have our work cut out for us as mothers and fathers.

One of the things that I hear again and again from parents is, “I’ve tried everything.”

While I full admit that parenting is a huge challenge and daunting at times, there’s no way that *any* of us have tried “everything”. We roll our eyes when our kids tell us that they’re “bored” and I know more than a couple husbands who don’t buy for a second that their wives have nothing to wear. So, why do we let ourselves get away with this little lie? Why do we give up so easily?

I think the truth is that in the middle of chaos and trials, it’s hard to step back and think logically. It’s hard to open our minds to other thoughts when we’re so very focused on just getting through the day. I have been there. I’ve sat down at the end of the day and just cried. I’ve wondered how I was going to get through the next day or week or month of parenting…

But, at some point, I find that I have to step up and just do the work. I have to try something new. I have to experiment. I might even have to try something that I’ve done before, but try it again. I’ve read tons of books on parenting. And I’ve asked lots of questions. And I encourage you to do the same.

We all have hard days. Like I’ve said, this parenting stuff ain’t for the weak of heart.

But, take advantage of some of those resources out there. Dust yourself and tryy something new.

I like to call it comando parenting.

And so far I think it’s working out well.

I’m a *new* Mom!

So, as previously posted, we adopted on Thursday.

And I can’t say that it feels real yet.

It’ll be nice when my first response to a scrape isn’t an incident report.

Yesterday we partied hardy! I will post a few photos of the set up tomorrow. I didn’t take a single photo during the party, though. Thankfully, I didn’t have to. We had a photographer taking care of that.

Thanks to all of you who came to enjoy! And if you didn’t, come by this week and help us get rid of all of the extra beer…

In a few weeks, I’ll have the photos from the photographer to share, too.

Take Care!

Well, I haven’t been doing the count down on here, but it’s less than a week until V is forever ours! And, it’s now one week before the party.

I’ve been cleaning and gathering and prepping.

And I hope that you will be here!

I think that’s all for now.
